“I can’t wait for the real movie to start!â€
Writing this, while sitting in a very sunny Duino, surrounded by amazing, inspiring people from all around the world and busy chatting Italians sipping their coffee, I realise how much I love this place and how grateful I am for being able to be here. Since my arrival here in September last year I lived my life to the fullest. I learned a new language, I did activities of which I never thought it would be something I would do and met people from many different cultures. I learned that stereotypes are not always, even close to, the truth and I taught others that stereotypes about my country aren’t so real as well. My main project this year was and still is leading the yearbook team. This experience helped me to discover how to manage a team and how to achieve your goals effectively and on time. Living in a room with three others, coming from different backgrounds, namely Lithuania, Bangladesh and Italy is sometimes hard, but it makes it worth so much, when you learn from each other and have so much fun that it doesn’t even matter you don’t have the same opinions. This summer I’m going to India for a month to do volunteering work and this is what I think is the most special about United World Colleges: it’s just a preview of the rest of your live, the people you’re going to meet and the things you are going to achieve in the world. I can’t wait for the real movie to start!
Thank you for showing me this preview, Grazie mille per avermi mostrato questa anteprima!
