In the past few years I have participated in a number of educational simulation activities in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. These so-called MUNs (Model United Nations) involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
These MUNs fuelled my energy and shaped my direction for future development. I was able to persuade many fellow students to participate in MUNs. This is important as these experiences tend to create the need for other students to take action to solve global issues.
The next two years I will be at UWC Red Cross Nordic in Norway. At UWC Red Cross Nordic I want to learn as much as possible about other cultures. And to find ways to raise more attention for global warming and intercultural understanding. I want to learn how to take action and influence people to develop a desire to build a more sustainable and peaceful society, where people with different socio-economic background, culture, race and religion have a peaceful and sustainable future.
After my UWC education I want to study Politics and International Studies, where my UWC experience will certainly be useful. After my study, I first want to travel the world to understand the view of other cultures on tensions and conflicts that exist within and between societies. With the insights obtained I want to bring cultures closer together to avoid future conflicts. In order to be able to have real impact I see myself working for the government, at a NGO or in the UN.
