I decided it was time to make an impact somewhere else and leave the place where I have lived for 16 years, and like it was meant to be I learnt about United World College. Here I will get the chance to debate about global politics with people from all over the world and develop into a conscious citizen of the world. UWC for me is a place where people that want to make a change come together, and that it is where I want to be. At UWC I want to continue learning about global politics and I want to keep helping people. In the future I would like to work with conflict situations and global humanitarian problems so that I can help people with their hardships.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to learn from inspiring teachers in the Netherlands and at an international school in London. Having experienced how my mind-set could change through inspiring education and exchanging stories with people from very different cultural backgrounds, I realized the importance of learning and widening your scope. The differences in approaches to education fascinate me. I dream of making inspiring education more accessible also for developing countries. I also dream of one day having an impact on the educational system and help shift the current focus on short term results to a focus on acquiring skills that you can take with you for the rest of your life.
In the future I want to become an engineer: Ever since I was a young child I have been drawing architectural sketches of my futuristic ideas. One day I hope to help communities by creating better and more sustainable means of transportation and ways of living. I am extremely honoured to have been offered a place at a UWC college and hope to start such a project with my peers at UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg. I am confident that my experiences there will help me realize these goals.
