Pearson College combines the challenges both the sea and the mountains have to offer. Situated on Vancouver Island, this College enjoys all the benefits of both of these natural elements.
About 200 students from over 80 countries live on campus together with the staff and their families. The students live in 5 houses.
Besides the academic programme there is an intensive ‘outdoor’ programme which consists of expeditions in the mountains and on the sea. The College runs the Race Rock Marine Protected Area, where students and deep sea divers do research and –thanks to advanced technology- allow the rest of the world to join in through the website www.racerocks.com.
The College has a longstanding relation with the local community and the students participate by doing social services and activities whilst at the College. They can also join in linked projects in developing countries (either after their first year or after theirI.B.). Furthermore the students regularly set up a project of their own. In the past, students got involved in work with street youth and they led expeditions and gave workshops about racism and other social issues.
Pearson College is a school for students with full scholarships from the College itself (for students from poor countries) or from the National Committees.
