Community Service
Community service is a fundamental part of UWC education and all the UWCs and all the students take part in it.
UWC community service projects enable students to develop a feeling of social responsibility and become involved in the local communities in which they live. Students are responsible for and encouraged to make the most of their opportunities and to assume the leadership. The community service at a UWC extends far beyond the requirements of the IB diploma.
The community service programme varies at each UWC school and is tailored to local conditions. At UWC of the Atlantic, students operate a rescue boat station for the South Wales Coast. At Mahindra UWC, students tackle local illiteracy. The projects are extremely diverse. In the UWC colleges submenu there is a description of what each school does.
